UNSW Engineering School Websites
Following the well received Faculty website, the UNSW Engineering Faculty decided to use a similar design for all their School websites. Hence, template design was done for all 10 Schools. Custom background was designed for each of the schools to differentiate one school from another.

I was able to work with Daniel Woo and Simon Pan from UNSW HCI Team, the in-house web development team, Marketing and Events Management unit and members of the executive team in the process of redesigning the website.
A key part of the process involves User Centered Design to ensure usability. The challenge was to produce a minimalistic design and navigation catering for all different user groups, from high school students to students, researchers, alumni, staff and media personals.
Our aim was to get as close to an intuitive website as possible for each identified user group, through personal and scenario mapping, user testing and iterative design.
The diorama and the game play had been built and decided when I joined to design the game’s user interface elements for a touch-screen device. In the game, users can swap elements on the diorama to select greener options.
The challenge was that every wood piece in the diorama is meant to clickable and because its all wood, the separation between each piece is not quite obvious. And working on the constrain of touch-screen device which doesn’t have a hover state (which could have been helpful), the solution was to put pins on the diorama to indicate to users where to click so that they can zoom in and out of scenes.
When designing the interface elements, while creating a consistent wood texture, I also tried to add bit of colour elements to make the overall look more vibrant.
A campaign initiated by Sun Herald. I was asked to design its facebook pages for Circul8. Campaign was shelved.
Research collaboration between UNSW and Prince of Wales Research Institution. Game to aid balance rehabilitation in the elderly using Wii Fit.
Our team attended some of their rehab classes to understand and familiarise ourselves with the suitable exercises. We interviewed the patients to find out what sort of games they like as well as the things that they wish they could do if not for the disability. Combining our user research with the interactivity of Wii we designed a game with the idea of mobility and social interaction whilst doing rehabilitation. We also conducted regular focus group and game tests with patients to ensure usability among the elderly with computers and that user goals are met.
